Verdict

Canva is a reasonable place to start if you already use it and want something quickly. It is not built for store listings, though: you manage store dimensions yourself, there is no translation into store languages, and nothing uploads to the stores. Launch Shots handles those specifically.

About Canva

Canva is a general-purpose design platform with a large template library, including templates aimed at app store screenshots. It is a common starting point for founders without a designer. The free plan is usable but stamps a watermark on designs that include premium elements, which can be removed by a one-off licence purchase or a Canva Pro subscription. Canva Pro, Business and Enterprise tiers are subscriptions — check their pricing page for current rates.

When Canva is the right choice

Familiarity and breadth. If you already make your social posts and pitch decks in Canva, keeping screenshots there means one tool, one brand kit and no new subscription — and its template library dwarfs anything a specialist tool can maintain.

Why people switch to Launch Shots

Canva does not know what a store listing is. Required dimensions are yours to look up and maintain, a premium element can put a watermark on an export you were about to ship, translating means rebuilding each design per language, and every file is exported and uploaded by hand. Launch Shots keeps the dimensions correct automatically, never watermarks anything, translates in place, and publishes to both stores.

Best for

Founders already comfortable in Canva who want a fast first draft without learning a new tool.

Store Listings

Now Launch Shots manages the whole listing, not just the screenshots.

The copy around your screenshots is half the listing, and it is usually the half that gets edited in a browser tab at midnight. Launch Shots reads it from the store, keeps every locale in one place, and writes it back when you are ready.

One grid · every locale · written back

  1. 01

    Pull the live listing

Connect App Store Connect or Google Play with your own credentials, add an app, and every locale you have already published comes down as an editable draft.

  2. 02

    Edit every field

Name, subtitle, description, keywords, promotional text, what’s new. Each one is checked against the store’s character limit while you write, so nothing gets rejected on submission.

  3. 03

    Translate the rest

Write once in your source language and translate into the others. When the source copy moves, only the translations that went stale are flagged — hand-edited ones are left alone.

  4. 04

    Publish copy and screenshots together

Bind your screenshot sets to a locale and push both back in one run. Anything that changed on the store since you pulled is shown side by side before a word is written.

Connect a store and pull your listing

Pulling, editing and translating are free. Credits are only spent when something is written to the store — 1 per locale published.

FAQ03

Frequently asked

Can I make App Store screenshots in Canva?

Yes — Canva has templates aimed at app screenshots. You are responsible for setting each design to the dimensions Apple and Google require, and for exporting and uploading everything yourself.

Does Canva watermark my screenshots?

On the free plan, designs that use premium elements carry a watermark until you buy a one-off licence for that content or subscribe to Canva Pro. Launch Shots never watermarks an export on any plan, including the free one.

Is Launch Shots a Canva alternative?

For store screenshots specifically, yes. Launch Shots maintains the exact dimensions each store requires, translates screenshots and listing copy into store languages, and uploads to App Store Connect and Google Play Console. Canva remains the better tool for everything else you design.
